Region 78 has initiated a development program that will be raising funds for scholarships for children to play in region 78 enabling us to truly commit to the AYSO operating philosophy of "Everyone Plays". We have seen increasing demand for our program from families whose finances do not enable them to pay our full registration fee. Support from the community and local businesses is needed to provided these families with partial-scholarship support and enable these children to play with us. In Fall 2007, We netted over $12,000 that we are using for partial scholarships to enable families to become part of Region 78 from our "Everyone Plays Scholarship Fund Raiser" ! Thank you to the wonderful team that planned and ran the event and their leaders Dena Bloom and Denise Martin! Please consider performing your volunteer responsibility by joining this new development team and assisting the region on this important initiative. Email ayso78.commissioner@ca.rr.com and I will put you in contact with the team. In March the LAUSD Board approved the AYSO Joint Use Agreement to operate soccer programs at the new field at John H. Liechty Middle School at Wilshire and Union! We are expanding and will need help growing our program in Pico Union. The LA84 Foundation has granted Region 78 $20,000 to initiate this new program.
